ABOUT

FFA

About the Organization

There are more than three-hundred distinct careers in the agriculture, food and natural resources industries. Agricultural Education and the National FFA Organization work in tandem to connect our members to those career opportunities through the Three Circle Model of Ag Education. Our model combines the strengths of classroom education, work-based experiential learning and career preparation and leadership through FFA. Delaware FFA is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriscience education.

Programs &Initiatives

Community Service Projects

FFA chapters actively engage in initiatives that address local needs and create meaningful impacts. Delaware FFA conducts a Day of Service during the annual state convention each year. Past Day of Service activities have included Brae’s Brown Bags, Blessing Bags for Veterans, Service Projects at the Delaware Ag Museum and at Delaware State Parks. Additionally, Delaware FFA, along with Delaware 4-H, donate produce to the Food Bank of Delaware during the Delaware State Fair every year.

Leadership Development Conferences

Delaware FFA prides itself on offering a continuum of leadership experiences not only for FFA Members, but for all students enrolled in agriscience education in Delaware. Outside of chapter visits and other interactions with FFA members, the Delaware FFA State Officer Team puts on three leadership conferences a year, along with the State FFA Convention.  During the leadership workshops in each conference, FFA Members work to gain premier leadership, personal growth and career success through experiential and inquiry-based learning.

Chapter-Led Initiatives

FFA encourages chapters to implement their own local service projects, empowering students to address community needs while fostering leadership, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility.

Career and Leadership Development Events

The Delaware FFA Association offers 26 Career Development Events (CDE) and Leadership Development Events (LDE) each year for FFA Members. Career and Leadership Development Events are held three times a year: State Convention (March), CDE/LDE Week (June), and at the Delaware State Fair (July). Career and Leadership Development Events focus on skills that students are developing to help better prepare them for future careers in agriculture. The various CDE’s and LDE’s provided by FFA help lead students to one of the over 300 careers found within the food, science and business areas of the agriculture industry.
