Agricultural Power and Engineering

The Agricultural Power and Engineering program of study provides students with the mathematical, scientific, and engineering principles and methods required to understand dynamic power systems and metal fabrication. Students practice real-world applications, communication skills, and problem-solving skills associated with dynamic power systems and metal fabrication. Students are prepared for a variety of careers including engineering, welding technicians, mechanical and industrial technicians, maintenance technicians, mechanical engineering, metal fabrication, CNC operators, power technology repair and troubleshooting, and green energy technologies.

Plant Science

The Plant Science pathway is designed to provide students with knowledge of plant growth and reproduction, as well as the use of plants for food, fiber, and ornamental purposes.

The program prepares students for a variety of careers in: agronomy, ornamental horticulture, biotechnology, forestry, soil science, and turf management.

Environmental & Natural Resource Science

The Environmental and Natural Resource Science (ENRS) pathway is designed to provide students with the scientific principles and methods required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, identify and analyze environmental problems that are natural and human-made, evaluate risks associated with these problems, and examine alternative solutions. ENRS is interdisciplinary; it embraces a wide variety of topics from different areas of study and promotes unifying constructs, or themes, that cut across the topics included in the study of Environmental and Natural Resources.

The program prepares students for a variety of careers including environmental engineer, environmental science and protection technician, geological and petroleum technician, natural sciences.

Agricultural Structures & Engineering

The Agricultural Structures & Engineering pathway is designed to provide students with the scientific principles and methods required to understand the interrelationships of construction. Students practice real world applications and problem solving skills associated with agricultural designs and engineering principles. Students utilize problem solving as well as communication skills to develop engineering concepts and building practices that are sound and reliable.

The program prepares students for a variety of careers including carpentry, engineering, architectural design, electrical, plumbing, masonry, construction framing, business management, sales, building maintenance, home improvement, and green energy technologies.

Animal Science & Management

The program prepares students for a variety of careers in: agribusiness, agriscience education, animal genetics, animal nutrition, animal reproduction, extension educator, marine biology, wildlife biology, veterinary medicine, zoology, animal researcher, animal processor, production manager, artificial insemination technician, animal breeder, veterinary assistant/technician, wildlife manager, zoo animal specialist, animal rescue/animal control officer, and agriculture producer.

Marketing Today!

Marketing Today! (MT) program of study is a three (3) course Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that engages students with the world of marketing services by focusing on how marketing is evolving in the digital age and how companies can be successful by implementing marketing strategies.

Nurse Assisting

The Nurse Assisting program of study is a three (3) course Career & Technical Education (CTE) instruction program that engages students in a comprehensive approach where they study topics such as medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology. Through exploration of the National Health Science Standards, students will acquire important skills necessary for healthcare professionals such as medical mathematics, communication, safety practices, legal responsibilities, and teamwork. In addition, students will develop technical skills such as providing personal care of the resident while taking care of their environmental needs and psychosocial needs.

Allied Health

The Allied Health program of study engages students in open-ended problem solving where they study topics such as medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology. Through exploration of the National Health Standards, students will acquire important skills necessary for healthcare professionals such as medical mathematics, communication, safety practices, legal responsibilities, and teamwork. In addition, students will develop technical skills such as performing a wound culture, measuring vital signs, collecting a throat culture and performing a strep test.

The program prepares students for a variety of careers in healthcare such as respiratory therapist, nurse, physical therapist, dental hygienist, and medical lab technician.

NAF Academy of Finance

The NAF Academy of Finance (AOF) pathway is a three (3) course Career & Technical Education (CTE) program that engages students with the world of financial services by focusing on banking and credit, financial planning, accounting, and insurance. Students gain career knowledge through a series of work-based learning activities that are conducted in school and outside of the classroom, and a 120-hour paid summer internship. Completion of the program is validated with a NAFTrack Certification, NAF’s student certification assessment system.

AOF courses introduce students to a wide array of careers such as personal financial advisor, tax preparation specialist, accountant, financial analyst, loan officer, account representative, insurance agent, and claims representative.

Manufacturing Logistics Technician

The Manufacturing Logistics Technician pathway is a two (2) year; four (4) semester CTE program that engages students in open-ended problem solving where they learn and apply manufacturing processes and use modern, industry-leading technology and software. The program prepares students for further education and careers in manufacturing production. The CTE program consists of four courses that are completed on the campus of the Delaware Technical Community College.

Manufacturing Engineering Technology

The Engineering byDesign (EbD) Manufacturing Engineering Technology pathway is a three (3) course CTE program that engages students in open-ended problem solving where they learn and apply the engineering design process, use industry-standard technology and software, and apply math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects.

K-12 Teacher Academy

The K-12 Teacher Academy pathway is a three (3) and six (6) course CTE program that prepares students for careers in elementary and secondary education. Observation opportunities in a variety of age and discipline settings, as well as special needs and non-classroom settings, provide practical experiences while enriching the learning. Students participate in a long-term placement during their senior year which allows for in-depth experiences in a classroom setting.

Early Childhood Teacher Academy

The Early Childhood Teacher Academy pathway engages students in developing a realistic understanding of early childhood while exploring the importance and impact of teachers. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to sustain their interest in the early childhood profession and cultivate the skills needed to be successful, thus creating a pipeline of high-quality students transitioning to the early childhood field. Students will understand the importance and uniqueness of early childhood and participate in classroom and field experiences.

The program prepares students for a variety of careers in early childhood such as teacher, curriculum director, and administrator.

Digital Communication Technology

The Digital Communication Technology (DCT) pathway requires students to apply the skills and tools of digital designers used in graphic design, pixel-based imagery manipulation, HTML coding, digital video production, vector image manipulation, digital illustration, and digital publishing. Students utilize strategies to solve open-ended problems while learning how to apply technical skills, creative skills, industry knowledge, documentation techniques, and processes using modern, industry-leading technology and software.

Client-based learning experiences and industry-mentored projects introduce students to a wide array of related careers in public relations, marketing, web and digital communications and printing.

Culinary & Hospitality Management

The Culinary & Hospitality Management pathway is a three (3) and six (6) course CTE program that is supported by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. ProStart® trains students on industry-specific skills that can be used in all aspects of the restaurant and hospitality industry along with the employability skills like leadership, accountability, teamwork, and responsibility.

The program prepares students for careers such as Executive chef and Sous Chef, Food Service Manager, Kitchen Manager, and Line Cook.

Computer Science

The Computer Science program of study engages students in open-ended problem solving where students study computational practices such as algorithm development, problem solving and programming within the context of problems relevant to their everyday lives. Computer Science programs of study are available at both the middle and high school levels. The high school program includes the completion of two Advanced Placement courses and is described in the graphic below.

Architectural Engineering Technology

The Architectural Engineering Technology (AET) pathway engages students in the world of construction and architecture through coursework focusing on site selection, drafting, architectural, and engineering planning, budgeting, cost estimating, production, permits, contracting, work timetables, and project management. Students utilize strategies to solve open-ended problems while they learn how to apply technical skills, knowledge, documentation techniques, and processes using modern, industry-leading technology and software.
